My Approach to Therapy

I work from an integrative therapeutic perspective, tailoring each session to the unique context, history, and needs of my clients. My approach is grounded in relational depth, emotional attunement, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. I have trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, person-centred therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

While this broad training allows me to work flexibly, much of my therapeutic approach is shaped by the depth-oriented, trauma-informed, and compassion-based frameworks of IFS therapy and EMDR therapy, which I often draw on to support deeper emotional processing, trauma integration, and long-standing patterns of distress. These modalities are particularly helpful for clients navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, emotional overwhelm, and relational challenges. The other therapeutic approaches I am trained in provide structure and perspective, allowing the work to be adapted to each client’s pace, goals, and unique circumstances.

Central to my practice is the creation of a warm, non-judgmental, and emotionally attuned space; one where clients feel safe to explore their inner worlds and experience being truly seen, heard, and understood. When working with trauma or distressing experiences, EMDR can be incorporated to help process difficult memories, reduce their emotional intensity, and support long-term emotional wellbeing.

Across all therapeutic relationships, I place great importance on building a sense of trust, collaboration, and connection. Clients take an active and empowered role in their therapeutic journey, drawing on their own insights and strengths as they navigate their internal experiences and the challenges of their outer world. My intention is to offer a grounded, compassionate, and deeply human space where clarity, self-understanding and healing can unfold naturally.

"Rather than particular techniques, the far greater predictors of positive outcomes are therapeutic relationships, or counsellor qualities in therapeutic relationships that capitalize on clients’ internal strengths."
